Mexicans Who Happen To Be Living In America Want Their Racial-Grievance Studies

         Multiculturalism, which used to be merely noxious, has become a raging infection which poses as much of a threat to America as the national debt or terrorism — before Osama assumed room temperature.

         Last week, a gang of ethnocentric thugs took over a meeting of the governing board of the Tucson, Arizona Unified School District, chaining themselves to desks, screaming slogans and chasing board members from the room.

         They were enraged by an attempt to make a course that teaches history “from a Mexican-American perspective” optional instead of a substitute for a required course in U.S. history.

         The Mexican American Studies Program incites approximately 1,700 middle- and high-school students in the district annually.

         After an investigation, Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne determined that the basic theme of the curriculum (AKA: Raza — “the race” — Studies) is that Hispanic students “were and continue to be victims of a racist American society driven by the interests of middle- and upper-class whites.”

         Classrooms in which this pedagogy is perpetrated are decorated with pictures of such Latino “heroes” as Castro and Che Guevara.

         Textbooks refer to citizens of this country as “Anglos” or “Euroamericans” (rather than Americans) and include such gems as an essay by one Robert Jensen which claims Thanksgiving is a “white supremacist holiday” that should be replaced by a “National Day of Atonement” for gringo sins against people of color.

         The introductory chapter promises: “We will see how half of Mexico (California, Texas and the Southwest) was ripped off by trickery and violence. We will see how Chicanos became a colonized people. In the process of being colonized, we were robbed of land and other resources.” The nerve of those Texans, tricking Santa Anna into attacking the Alamo and killing its defenders to the last man.

         In violation of a recently enacted Arizona law, the curriculum promotes the overthrow of the United States government and “resentment toward a race or class of people,” is “designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group” and advocates “ethnic solidarity instead of treatment of pupils as individuals.”

         The multiculturalist assault on America is multifaceted.

         In 2010, on Cinco de Mayo (which celebrates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over the French – big whoopee), a group of patriotic students at the Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California, were sent home for wearing American-flag t-shirts. Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez is said to have lectured the delinquents on the sacredness of the Mexican holiday and told them that their apparel was an affront to ethnic sensibilities.

         The following day, around 200 Hispanic students from the school left classes and marched through the streets of Morgan Hill carrying Mexican flags and chanting: “We want respect,” in English and Spanish. For them, the country in which they happen to reside — and where they are educated at taxpayer-expense — deserves no such consideration.

         In California public schools, the American flag — the one Americans spilled their blood following into battle to keep us free — isn’t just offensive on Cinco de Mayo.

         On Veterans Day 2010, 13-year-old Cody Alicea was sent home from the Denair Middle School for coming to school on a bicycle decorated with a small American flag. The 13-year-old said he was honoring his grandfather, a vet.

         Superintendent Edward Parraz explained: “Our Hispanic, you know, kids, will, you know, bring their Mexican flags and they’ll display it (sic), and then of course the kids would do the American flag situation (sic), and it does cause a kind of racial tension.” One more “you know” and Parraz would have won a pair of tickets to a Justin Bieber concert.

         The Superintendent added, “We want them (students) to appreciate the cultures (sic).” Said appreciation does not include the dominant culture/identity (the one forged over centuries by Americans of every kind) on an American holiday which commemorates the sacrifices of our veterans.

         Multiculturalism is always toxic — the Mex-Hispanic-Latino-Chicano variant particularly so.

         The Mexican population of the United States has grown from three million to 31.7 million in the past four decades, an estimated 10.3% of the total population in 2009.

         Some are loyal Americans, some largely indifferent to their host country, while many are openly hostile to the nation that has offered them opportunities undreamed of in their homeland. Strangely, there are no reported cases of Mexican-Americans born here trying to sneak into Mexico.

         In an article in FrontPageMag.com, (“Mexican Anti-Americanism in America,” December 6, 2002), David Montgomery, formerly a professor at a California community college, discloses that reconquista sentiment ran high among Hispanic students in his classes and how they would insist that the territory “stolen” from Mexico in the 1840s would eventually revert to its rightful owners and what a swell thing that would be.

         Montgomery reports, in 2001 seeing thousands of cars in Los Angeles bearing illuminated signs reading “F--- you, this is still Mexico.”

         This treason is fostered and fed by a well-funded lobby of agitators, indoctrinators, litigators and activists, including MALDEF (the Ford Foundation subsidized Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund), the National Council of La Raza, Chicano Studies departments and MEChA, the lunatic student group with its dreams of carving out an entity it calls “Aztlan” (a mythical homeland for “indigenous people”) encompassing territory as far North as Washington state and as far East as Texas.

         This fantasy is promoted by the Mexican government, which claims sovereignty over Mexicans living on both sides of the border.

         Do Chicano revanchists ever wonder about the disparities between the United States and Mexico — and not just income, or the fact that, despite a wealth of natural resources, most Mexicans remain pathetically poor? As the joke goes: We didn’t just steal half their country; we stole the half with the paved roads.

         For most of its 20th century history, Mexico was a one-party state — a democracy in name only. Today, parts of Mexico resemble Beirut in the 1970s.

         Last fall, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, no chauvinist she, told a D.C. foreign policy research group that Mexico was “looking more and more like Columbia looked 20 years ago, where narco-traffickers controlled certain parts of the country.”

         Clinton was quickly contradicted by her boss, the multiculturalist in chief, who assured all and sundry that “Mexico is a vast and progressive democracy, with a growing economy, and as a result you cannot compare Mexico with what happened in Columbia 20 years ago.” Then again, the foreign-affairs whiz-kid thinks the Muslim Brotherhood is a force for democracy in the Middle East.

         In our vast and progressive neighbor to the South, you can get your head chopped off and stuck on a spike for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its government reports that over the past four years, 34,612 citizens of the land of opportunity have died in drug-related violence, with 15,273 of those murders in 2010 alone.

         Multiculturalism seeks to pit women against men, blacks against whites, browns against other races, minorities against Jews (by spreading hatred of Israel and various conspiracy theories) and to generate deep resentment among other designated victim groups.

         Multiculturalism is bolstered by historical revisionism — attempts to rewrite history to cast this country as America The Ugly. Last November, a National Endowment for the Humanities Conference (“History and Commemoration: Legacies of the Pacific War in WW II”) took place at the University of Hawaii’s East-West Center. Shockingly, it sought to exonerate imperial Japan and indict America. One of the participants, Dr. Penelope A. Blake, Ph.D., blew the whistle on this travesty.

         In a letter to her Congressman, Don Manzullo, Blake charged: “In my 30 years as a professor in upper education, I have never witnessed nor participated in a more extremist, agenda-driven, revisionist conference, nearly devoid of rhetorical balance and historical context for the arguments presented.”

         According to conference presentations, at Pearl Harbor, the U.S. should be seen as “both victim and aggressor” (exactly what the left says about 9-11), “the U.S. military and its veterans constitute an imperialistic, oppressive force,” “veterans’ memories of their own experiences in the war are suspect and influenced by the media and their own self-delusion” and “War memorials like the Arizona memorial should be recast as ‘peace memorials’ sensitive to viewers from all countries, especially the many visitors from Japan.” Quotes are all from Blake’s letter to Manzullo.

         Isn’t it about time we began paying reparations to the families of kamikaze pilots and the banzai-boys killed during the island-hopping campaign — many fresh from raping and torturing Chinese and Koreans?

         Authors of textbooks for Tucson’s Mexican-American Studies program share a mindset with the pseudo-scholars who paraded their perversions of history at this conference — both subsidized by taxpayers.

         The latest adventures in multiculturalism-land include the treatment of Islam in a textbook recommended by the California State Board of Education for use in its schools. In “History Alive! The Medieval World and Beyond,” material on Islam was written with input from the fundamentalist Islamic Society of North America.

         The book includes one sentence on Jesus but a chapter on Muhammad which presents a fawning and falsified account of the prophet’s life. The religion of peace itself is so sanitized that it sounds like Methodism in a burka.

         How pervasive is multicultural indoctrination? In 2008, the Manhattan Institute did a syllabus survey of the nation’s top college education programs, ranked by U.S. News and World Report, and found that, in course descriptions, words like “multiculturalism,” “diversity,’ “inclusion” and variants thereof appeared 82% more often than the word “math.”

         In a 1995 essay, scholar and author Michael Novak said the major components of multiculturalism include: “anti-Americanism,” “victimology,” “double standards,” “group think,” “ego-boosting,” and “censorship.”

         Multiculturalism is reality turned upside down and inside out. America’s greatness is attributed not to its unique political institutions, our free-market system, a Constitution that safeguards individualism, hard work, creativity (Yankee ingenuity) and a pioneering spirit, but to Americans’ alleged propensity for theft, exploitation, subjugation, chicanery and hogging of resources down through the ages.

         The left has always been intent on disuniting America. In one of his more telling malapropisms, then Vice President Al Gore sonorously proclaimed, “We can build a collective civic space large enough for all our separate identities, that can be E pluribus unum — out of one many.” As every American schoolboy used to know, E pluribus unum means “out of many, one.”

         Until the late 1960s, Americans strived to unite a nation of diverse religions, races and ethnicities (out of many, one). The common denominators were a heritage of which all could be justly proud, faith in our democratic institutions and the free market, a reverence for God (however that devotion was expressed) and, of course, English.

         The left is committed to the reverse — to doing exactly what Theodore Roosevelt warned us against, turning America into “a tangle of squabbling nationalities” — one whose various components are driven by bitterness, envy, paranoia and a profound misreading of history.

         Barack Hussein Obama is the first confirmed multiculturalist in the White House.

         The president does international apology tours, publicly doubts America’s uniqueness, ridicules Main Street America as teeming with bigoted, violence-prone religious fanatics, distorts history (ex: by claiming America is not a Christian nation, but Islam made a major contribution to our national identity) celebrates Ramadan but not the National Day of Prayer and supports what amounts to an open-borders policy.

         Speaking on the Spanish-language cable station Univision last fall, Obama urged Hispanics to go to the polls in November and “punish” their “enemies” — those who don’t understand that Spanish is our official language, the American flag is offensive, racial-grievance studies rock and Cinco de Mayo is a national holiday in what used to be the United States of America.
